FitQ and FunTastyQ Weekly Product Updates

Hello!

It’s Tuesday again, and time to take a look at what we’ve been up to in product development this week. Last week, we updated both the FitQ workout videos and the FunTastyQ Fit food section. Most of the updates are already live—here’s a quick summary of what you’ll notice when you use the app.

Workout videos now open in the new FitQ player

Until now, workout videos played in the Vimeo player. Since Vimeo wanted to quadruple our pricing, but our goal is to offer at-home workout options as affordably as possible without raising our service fees for customers, we had to quickly switch to our own player solution. Many videos are already playing today on our own infrastructure, in our own player: a large central play button, 10-second skip forward and backward, a timeline, volume control, quality selection (auto, 360p, 720p, 1080p), and picture-in-picture mode. There’s a discreet “Q” icon in the corner.

The remaining videos will continue to play as before for now and will gradually migrate to the new player. If anything goes wrong with the new player, the video will automatically switch back to the old one, so your viewing experience shouldn’t be interrupted. This safety net will remain active for two more weeks; hopefully, after that, we’ll be able to retire the Vimeo player with dignity. If you’re having any issues with the video player, please don’t hesitate to let us know right away.

Events now have their own page

Previously, an event in FitQ was just a line in a list. Now, a coach can create a full page for an event: a cover image, description, location and time, instructions for participants, frequently asked questions, a list of participants, and a registration button. The page can also be shared with people who don’t yet use FitQ.

The first page of this kind is up for the Elva Parish Open Beach Volleyball Championships, which will take place on Saturday, August 29. In the future, coaches will also be able to add their own training sessions to the events page. We’ll see how this new feature goes.

Ampsud — Key Takeaways from the Article in 30 Seconds

At the top of the blog post, below the cover image, there is now a tab called “Ampsud.” Click it to see the article’s 3–5 main ideas: each idea is presented as one bold statement followed by a couple of clarifying sentences. This way, you can see before you start reading whether the article is for you—and if you’re short on time, you can get the gist in thirty seconds.

Ampsud is currently available for five articles, including the piece published last Sunday, “The Aluseline Diet: What Does the Science Say?”

Saturated Fat: Now You Can See Where It Came From

The daily limit for saturated fat is 20 grams, and until now, the daily summary only showed whether you’d reached that limit. Now, on the FunTastyQ Fit website, you can click on the fat chart and see a list of which foods from that day contributed saturated fat and how many grams each one added.

In addition, there’s a separate marker on the food row if a large portion of that food’s fat is saturated. This way, you no longer have to click through meals one by one to figure out where you reached your limit. The same view, along with a complete nutrition table, will be available in the apps with the next update.

Allergen information is now more precise

Sesame and soy are now listed as separate allergens. Both are subject to mandatory labeling in the European Union, but they weren’t listed separately in our labeling system—which is why they couldn’t be excluded. Now you can, and 808 foods have already been labeled.

Allergen-free recipes no longer get caught in the filter. A recipe that didn’t contain any allergens looked exactly like an unchecked recipe to the system—and was therefore held back by the allergy filter. Now, what matters is whether the recipe has been reviewed.

We’ll suggest allergens for new foods. When you add a new product to the food database, we’ll fill in the allergens for you as you enter it, and all you have to do is review them and correct them if necessary. It’s important to note that we only see the product name and can make assumptions based on that. You have the product packaging, which contains all the exact ingredient information. Together, we can make more accurate assessments and ensure the information remains accurate for everyone.

And one more thing

Your payment history in one place. Your funtastyq.com profile now includes a payments page where you can see all your purchases together—regardless of whether you paid with a credit card, Stebby, or through the store. The same feature will be added to the app settings in the next update.

Saving your weight no longer interrupts your morning check-in.

Remember that the Weekly Challenge is still going on—this week is Water Week, and the goal is to drink your personal water quota (25 ml per kilogram of body weight) on five out of seven days.

Have a great week of fitness!
