We apologize for today's technical issue

Hello!

You’re most likely one of the app users who today received a message saying that your plan has expired, were asked to re-enter your information, or simply got stuck loading forever—it wasn’t your fault, nor was it your phone’s fault. It was our fault, and we apologize.

First things first: your data was safe the whole time.

Your plan, weight, food diary, and workouts were safe and sound on our server the whole time. The app just couldn’t show them to you. No meals, workouts, or other information were lost.

What happened?

Google Play recommends a tool to developers that makes apps smaller and faster—it trims out code that the app doesn’t use. It’s a great idea that saves your phone’s storage and data. We enabled it, and it reached users for the first time in this morning’s update.

The problem was that we didn’t tell the tool precisely enough which parts of the app it absolutely must not touch. So, for some users, it accidentally removed the part that reads account data. The app launched, the login was successful, and the server responded correctly—but the app could no longer recognize who you were. And a user whom the app doesn’t recognize sees an empty profile or an “expired” package. Unfortunately, logging out and logging back in didn’t help either, because the error kept recurring.

What We Did

As soon as the first reports came in, we started investigating. Within just a few hours, we received a fix from the server side that resolved the issue on many phones on its own, without anyone having to do anything. We then identified the root cause and fixed it in the app. We also added an automatic check to prevent this error from recurring unnoticed.

What You Need to Do

Update the app to the latest version (1.60.05) from Google Play. That’s all you need to do.

If Play isn’t offering the update yet, you can also get the latest version directly: funtastyq.com/download

In closing

We know that many of you use the app every day and trust us on your health journey. Today, we didn’t quite live up to that trust. Thank you to everyone who reached out and helped us find the bug—your reports were exactly what helped us get on the right track and fix the issue.

If you still have any concerns or feedback about the app, please just reply to this email.

We apologize once again.
