If you’re not as active as you’d like to be, the main reason you give is that you don’t have enough time. In November 2017, we conducted a survey at Stebby that received responses from nearly 3,000 users, and found that almost all respondents valued exercise and an active lifestyle. However, 50% felt they didn’t have enough time to be as active as they wanted, while 15% said they struggled with motivation.
We repeated the survey in a very simple format among FitQ’s Instagram followers and found that 65% of respondents once again cited a lack of time as the problem, while 22% pointed to a lack of motivation. Admittedly, the sample was many times less representative, and the survey methodology would have been shot full of holes by any reviewer at an academic defense. Still, going by gut feeling, it seems that exercisers haven’t gained significantly more time or motivation over the past four years. The time may be ripe for another larger survey, but even more than that, it seems the time is ripe for solutions.
What do you think? Is a lack of time genuinely an obstacle, or is it simply an excuse you use to justify yourself? If you’d like to share your opinion, send it to blog@fitq.me
